White-Tailed Deer Seen at Wild Florida Airboats in Orlando!

Posted by Wild Florida on January 4,2012 01:37:PM

We now have three beautiful Florida white-tailed deer on our nature preserve here at Wild Florida!

White-Tailed DeerThe coats of white-tailed deer are various shades of brown, ranging from tawny to cinnamon to almost-black. The inside of their ears, throat, belly, and underside of the tail are white. When white-tailed deer sense danger, the tail is held upright, exposing the white underside. This reaction is known as "flagging" and is used to silently alert surrounding deer of potential danger.

Florida deer eat about 4lbs of food per day. The diet of the white-tailed deer consists of leaves, tips of shrubs and vines, tender green plants, grasses, acorns, mushrooms, and many other types of plants.
