Orlando, Fla. (January 15, 2015) - Wild Florida (www.wildfloridairboats.com), a gator park and airboat ride experience located in Kenansville, Fla. is pleased to announce the addition of Powder to their gator and wildlife park.
Powder is an 18-year-old Umbrella Cockatoo that joined Wild Florida two years ago.
Umbrella Cockatoos can live up to 80 years or more in captivity and when properly cared for, they can grow up to about 24 inches in length from the beak to the tip of their tail feathers. Known as being gentle, docile and sweet-tempered animals by nature, this makes them a good addition to the Wild Florida gator and wildlife park.
Janice Brooks and her family owned Powder since he was eight weeks old back in 1997. When her husband Skip passed away in 2011, Powder didn’t take it very well. As a result, he started picking his feathers and developing some behavioral issues. Brooks knew she needed to find Powder a new home.
“I’m happy to report that Powder is living in a large, beautiful aviary at Wild Florida, and is having the time of his life,” says Brooks. “His feathers never grew back but he’s happy, healthy and thriving. I visited him on my birthday and it warmed my heart to see him again.”
Powder was ecstatic to see his owner once again, and is enjoying his new environment with his feathered friends.
“Powder is a great addition to the park as we continue to grow and enhance our experience for all of our visitors,” mentions Sam Haught, co-founder of Wild Florida. “We are working hard to continue to expand our park, so that our visitors can experience not only an amazing and unique airboat experience, but also getting to see Florida as it is in its natural environment.”
Wild Florida offers daily and annual gator park passes, which can be purchased online at https://www.wildfloridairboats.com/buy-wild-florida-tickets.
