Airboat Noise Regulation Shot Down In Lake Hamilton

The town council in Lake Hamilton in Florida has decided that the city cannot regulate airboat noise in Big Lake Hamilton, even though the lakes are controlled by the state. This has been a subject of much debate in the community when residents of Crump Road when residents complained about the noise from the local airboat tours that ran on Big Lake Hamilton. Captain Fred’s, the airboat nature tour company, is at the center of this controversy. This is not an issue that surrounds the Wild Florida Orlando airboat rides.

The council decided, as an alternative to regulating the noise, they will consider amending the town’s zoning ordinance to control hours of operation. The state is in control of the waterways, and therefore, the state controls the enforcement of noise regulation. The current airboat noise limit is 90 decibels. Wild Florida Orlando airboat rides ensures that its noise level is within the limit set by the state.

The issue is that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission doesn’t necessarily have the tools available to measure the noise levels, according to Chairman Kathi Latimer. Orlando airboat rides are all within regulation of noise and their extremely eco friendly. Even better, they are fun for the whole family and a short drive from the attractions in the Orlando area.
