The words tourists and locals use to describe the Everglades are usually the same. Oftentimes, people leave testimonial-like comments that describe Florida’s wetlands as “breathtaking,” “gorgeous,” and “exquisite.” At Wild Florida, we cherish and admire the beauty of the Everglades and pride ourselves on educating others, by taking them deep into the swamps and rivers that make up this unique ecosystem. While an air boat ride in Orlando is great, there are other ways of experiencing this natural glory. An air boat ride will bring you close to the action, and take you deep into the Everglades, but have you ever experienced the Everglades from a more elevated point of view? Due to the popularity of the Everglades and the desire to bring in a new perspective of the park, Sunset Point Park will construct a viewing platform to see the Everglades from a birds-eye view, giving Everglades enthusiasts the option of both an elevated and personal perspective of the park.
The Sun Sentinel reports that Sunset Point Park will have a platform to observe the Everglades from a new angle. Sunset Point Park, located east of the Sawgrass Expressway at 11000 McNabb Road, already has a playground, camping site, and a wetlands nature study kiosk. The project is expected to be completed in 2015 and is being funded by a $25,000 grant. The City of Tamarac’s spokeswoman Elise Boston says that guests will be able to see “miles and miles of a river of grass.” Best of all, if you think you have some cool ideas for how to make this great project even greater, there will be public workshops beforehand so residents can have a say in the design. The platform will help boost the park’s traffic as well as give us all a new way of seeing one of the greatest natural wonders of Florida.
Whether you experience the beautiful Florida Everglades from the newly perched platform in Tamarac or through one of our air boat rides in Orlando, it’s safe to say you will not leave disappointed. Our tours come with free admission to our wildlife park and a free alligator demonstration. Go to Sunset Point Park to see the Everglades up high and give us a call at 866-532-7167 or book online when you are ready to experience it first-hand.
