Wild Florida Welcomes Leo, the Red-Ruffed Lemur

Posted by Wild Florida on April 27,2014 10:15:AM

Wild Florida is excited to announce the newest member of our Wildlife Park family, Leo. Leo is a beautiful Red-Ruffed Lemur native to the island of Madagascar in the rainforests of Masoala in the northeastern section of the island. Ruffed lemurs are the largest primates in the lemur family. They typically have slender bodies and long legs.

The Ruffed Lemurs are typically very well-groomed, as they spend a good portion of their time grooming themselves and others. The lifespan is around 15-20 years in the wild, and it’s around 25 years in captivity. They are most active in the morning or the evening, so keep that in mind if you want to hang out with Leo when you visit Wild Florida.

Leo is just one new addition to the Wild Florida family in recent months. Other new additions include Job the Zorse, Paco the Alpaca and Walter the Wallaby. We also have a variety of other different animals that are native to Florida that you’re not going to find any old zoo. We also have a variety of additional activities for you and the entire family. Spend the rest of your day taking a one-of-a-kind airboat ride around the undeveloped headwaters of the Everglades, eating at our authentic Southern cuisine at our BBQ restaurant and shopping for family in our unique Wild Florida gift shop.
