Monday, May 7: Gator Smash Demo
Alligators and crocodiles rank in the top three for having the strongest bites in the animal kingdom. See the power of their bite first hand during a live demonstration of alligators and crocodiles smashing fruits and vegetables between those powerful jaws.
Tuesday, May 8: Gator Jumpathon
Wild Florida’s popular Gator Jumpathon returns! At 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., join us at the Gator Pond to witness the true power of these animals, and see just how high they can jump to catch their prey. In between the Gator Jumpathon, there will also be bounce houses available for kids to do their own Jumpathon!
Wednesday, May 9: Best Gator Call and Race Competition
Just like cats and dogs, Florida alligators make a very distinct sound and, luckily for you, it's a call that everyone can master. Join us at 12:00 p.m. at our Exotic Animal Pavilion where you can compete in our first ever Gator Call competition. Not only will the winner win bragging rights for making the best alligator call, but they'll also take home a special prize from one of our Gator Week sponsors. Later on, we’ll host our first ever Gator Race where the winning gator will determine what charity all the money placed during the race will go to.
Thursday, May 10: Bite Force Comparison
As we mentioned earlier, alligators and crocodiles have some of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom. During the fourth day of Gator Week, we'll host a bite force demonstration between a snapping turtle, freshwater crocodile, American alligator and caiman inside our Gator Feeding Show Pavilion.
Friday, May 11: Taste of Gator Cook-off
Just like chicken, you can cook up a ton of dishes using alligator meat. During our first ever Taste of Gator Cook-off, our chef, Chef Ramon, will cook up a variety of gator dishes alongside another local chef and have local food bloggers judge the flavor of each dish. Once the judges have declared the winner, we'll add the winning dish to the Chomp House Grill menu!
Saturday, May 12: Meet Wild Florida's Biggest Alligator, Crusher!
Capping off another year of Gator Week, we'll stay open past 6 p.m. to hold a special night edition of our Gator Feeding Show, dispelling the rumor that alligators will only jump during the day. We'll also be offering discounted one-hour night airboat tours so everyone can see what takes place at night at Wild Florida.
